Our Philosophy

Cassidy Law, PLLC is a Resistance Law Firm:

What we mean by Resistance:

  1. Resisting any attempts to deprive our clients of their state and federal constitutional rights.
  2. Resisting any attempts to interfere with our Constitutional Republic, the Rule of Law, and the Independence of our Judiciary, in all matters handled by us.
  3. Resisting those who do not recognize that Montani, Semper, Liberi, means that West Virginians will always be Free.
  4. Resisting any attempts to interfere with our professional Oath as Officers of the Court.
  5. Resisting the philosophy that employees are not entitled to a decent living wage, universal health care, and higher education or vocational training, as declared in the 1948 Universal Declaration of Rights.
  6. Resisting the philosophy that any job or profession is not entitled to equal dignity and rights under the law.
  7. Resisting the philosophy that the Golden Rule should be precluded from consideration by juries in Courts of Law.
  8. Resisting the philosophy that employers can treat employees unfairly
  9. Resisting incivility and/or disrespectful treatment of all clients or opposing parties and their counsel.
  10. Resisting the interjection of partisan politics and/or political ideology into the legal profession or process.

Our Mottos, by nationality:

Irish: Frangas, non flectes

Italian: Fornire sicurezza

Polish: opór

American: The Jobs First Agenda

At CASSIDY LAW, P.L.L.C., we know that the prevailing view of the legal profession seems to emphasize the adversarial nature of our legal system, but we make every effort to practice law the old fashioned way — civilly, discreetly, and without fanfare — with our primary emphasis on resolving, not exacerbating, civil disputes.

CASSIDY LAW has traditionally refrained from the commercial advertising of services, and relies on word-of-mouth referrals, and recommendations of existing and former clients for new business.

The firm is also a partner in education with the WALS Foundation, which strives through educational programming, publications, and business incubation to promote economic development on the state and local level consistent with its Jobs First Agenda.

Our Inspiration

And lest we take ourselves too seriously with all that “inspiration,” we recall the wisdom of Martin S. Bogarad, who was fond of saying, Fifty years from now, none of this will make any difference.
